    一、主講人介紹:    

    李少鋒現(xiàn)任美國(guó)佛羅里達(dá)州立大學(xué)二語(yǔ)與外語(yǔ)教育專業(yè)教授,博士生導(dǎo)師,專業(yè)負(fù)責(zé)人。主要研究方向?yàn)槎Z(yǔ)習(xí)得、語(yǔ)言學(xué)習(xí)認(rèn)知能力、任務(wù)型學(xué)習(xí)與教學(xué)、以及量化研究方法(包括元分析)。近幾年在國(guó)內(nèi)外權(quán)威期刊上發(fā)表70多篇學(xué)術(shù)論文,相關(guān)期刊包括Applied Linguistics, Applied Psycholinguistics, International Review of Applied Linguistics, Journal of Second Language Writing, Language Learning, Language Teaching, Language Teaching Research, Modern Language Journal, Studies in Second Language Acquisition, System, 等。他的文章也見(jiàn)諸由Cambridge University Press, Routledge, John Benjamins, Blackwell Wiley, Multilingual Matters, Palgrave等權(quán)威出版社出版的學(xué)術(shù)專著。出版的專著包括The Routledge Handbook of Second language Acquisition and Individual Differences (co-edited with Phil  Hiver and Mostafa Papi), Task-Based Language Teaching: Theory and Practice (co-authored with Rod Ellis, Peter Skehan, Natsuko Shintani, and Craig Lambert); Language Aptitude: Advancing Theory, Testing, Research and Practice (co-edited with Zhisheng Wen, Peter Skehan, Adriana Biedron, and Richard Sparks)。他目前擔(dān)任Research Methods in Applied Linguistics期刊主編, TESOL Quarterly書(shū)評(píng)編輯以及多家權(quán)威期刊編委包括《外語(yǔ)與外語(yǔ)教學(xué)》, Language Teaching Research, RELC Journal, Studies in Second Language Acquisition, System, TESOL Quarterly, 等。他曾多次在國(guó)際應(yīng)用語(yǔ)言學(xué)和二語(yǔ)習(xí)得學(xué)術(shù)會(huì)議上做主旨發(fā)言,主持專題討論。李少鋒博士曾經(jīng)在中國(guó),美國(guó),及新西蘭多所高校任教。

     

    二、講座信息

    Language aptitude (alternatively aptitude) refers to cognitive abilities that are predictive of learning rate and ultimate attainment in a second language. Aptitude provides a window into the cognitive foundation or underpinnings of language learning, and aptitude research contributes significantly to an accurate understanding of the mechanism of language learning. In this talk, I will provide a systematic synthesis of the methodological aspects of the various strands of aptitude research, including research questions, research design, measurement of aptitude, construct validity, data analysis, and reporting practices. I will also spell out the different theoretical perspectives that have emerged in the literature and discuss the importance of theories in the selection, creation, and quality control of research methods. I will distinguish explicit aptitude and implicit aptitude, a recently emerged construct in aptitude research, and scrutinize the methods that have been utilized to examine the two related and yet different cognitive variables. I will take this opportunity to propose a framework for examining the validity of the measures of cognitive abilities in second language acquisition. The methodological synthesis is informed by a number of meta-analyses, narrative syntheses, and empirical studies I have conducted on language aptitude and a special issue of Studies in Second Language Acquisition that I co-guest-edited with Robert DeKeyser. The talk will report trends, identify issues, and propose solutions, and participants will have opportunities to engage in discussions and hands-on activities.
